For the convenience of the Tropics Park residents. Larry Cornell is usually there at 10:30 am and will keep the clubroom open later if a resident needs unless he must leave. Gary and Brian are two computer savvy residents and are there most days.

Several residents use the computers to access their e-mails online. You can make DMV appointments online among other things.

Check the Breeze magazine and the park clubhouse for movie and karaoke days and times.

It looks as though the computer clubroom will be getting an efficient heating and cooling system. That will make it much more comfortable for summer and winter. Many thanks to Gearge Turk for his support.

Have you ever saved a photo from the Internet and then found that it was saved in the wrong format (.gif instead of .jpg). You may be able to recover that file by renaming the extension name to ’.jpg’. I have had to do this many times and have had great success. I have been doing some video editing and recently found that a program I was using would not open some old video files with a ’.VRO’ extension. I renamed them to a ’mpg’ extension and was able to open and edit them.

This may not work on all file types but if the need arises it is worth a try. Be sure to remember the original extension name to go back to if it doesn’t work. Saturday, after I had shut the computer down it would not restart for my daughter. Monday I took into a shop as I thought the power supply had given up. But the computer started up ok in the shop. Apparently I had acquired a virus. My son says it’s because I download so many free programs from the internet. I have my computer back just in time to get the Breeze out to the publisher. But I don’t have much time as I have to reconfigure and reload many of my programs.
